Paola Marinangeli

"Young Stallion Head Study" Original Watercolor -By Paola Marinangeli
Included as part of the 2004 Showcase Art Auction

Paola Marinangeli declares that her first encounter with the Arabian horse was simply love at first sight and she is passionate in her belief that no other creature is able to provide more inspiration and emotion for her art. “If I had to describe a vision of my ideal Arabian horse,” says Paola, “I would say he is a divine Pegasus flying over clouds and rainbows.” She goes on to compare the Arabian with the mythical Unicorn galloping over fields of grass and ancient forests. “The Arabian horse,” she extols, “is our wish for fantasy, our hope to live in a world of endless beauty under the bluest of skies – a heavenly place where sorrows, wars and death are unknown and only love, beauty and perfection dwell.” It is here, inside this idyllic vision, that Paola believes the Arabian horse resides as an eternal King.

Paola embraces the challenge of representing the beauty of Arabian horses in her paintings, and now, after more than twenty years of portraying horses and dogs, she focuses on the pride and satisfaction she gains from her favorite subject. She prefers working in oils and watercolors and most recently is experimenting with a watercolor technique using two or three pigments and letting the water create light and shadow to add a bit of “magic” to the painting. Over the years she has been privileged to portray many important champions around the world, and her work has also been used as trophies for several international Arabian horse shows. “I continually strive to refine my technical skills,” says Paola, “as well as improve my knowledge, through study and research, of the fascinating, unique, and wonderful ‘Son of the Wind.’”
