Amy Thornton

Rolex Cross-Country Photograph - By Amy Thornton
Photo package auctioned as part of the Showcase Art Auction at the
2004 Egyptian Event.

Amy Thornton has been a hobby photographer since 1992, but became more passionate about photography in 1998. It is no small wonder what an encouraging word may do. Thanks to dear friends and family, she began selling her scenic shots of rural West Virginia in local art/craft shows. Amy now makes her matted and framed photographs of her "Images of West Virginia Collection" available in specialty shops and galleries.

Amy has been on the heels of Civil War Reenactors since 1993. Going to reenactments, talking with those educated folks and capturing them on film remains a challenging and enjoyable experience for her. Whether it is a Renaissance Festival, a Living History Performance, or the Highland Games, she thoroughly enjoys making enduring images of these people she so readily identifies with--history enthusiasts!

It is rooted in her love of history and the Great Outdoors that has led Amy's endeavors in making Natural Elements Portraits. Her studio is located outside, in beautiful Fayette County, West Virginia, however she also travels to do photo-shoots at clients' preferred locations.

Amy's philosophy is that people and animals are best captured on film in a simple, unadulterated environment, in natural light, which helps to produce honest smiles and expressions. God has given each of us a unique life; it is capturing a measure of that light inside of life that remains her pure motivation.
