Ivan Lloyd is a
dedicated fine arts oil painter, in the European tradition, who has
lived for many years among the people of North Africa, the Middle
East and India studying the art and culture of the regions.
He has traveled
and exhibited his paintings extensively throughout the world, and
his most recent work showcases Arabian horses in their natural
environment. His work has been featured in many prominent Magazines
and Equestrian Publications including Arabian Horse World, The Fine
Arts Magazine, Equine Images and Horses in Art.
Lloyd came to
America in 1972 as the artist-in-residence for the Southern Arizona
Light Opera Co. and, for several years, worked in close
collaboration with the original set designers of “The Wizard of Oz”
and “My Fair Lady.” As head of a select team of artists he created
numerous stage sets for Community Theatres around the country, and
for eight years, between productions, he designed Haunted Mansions
for charitable organizations in Scottsdale, Las Vegas and Atlanta.
In 1992 he was
commissioned to document “The Heroic Age” of the Baha’i Faith, and
during his research, for the project, he wrote and illustrated three
books on Persian history, which have been published in English and
translated into Persian.
Lloyd is a
Member of the Equine Art Guild and the Association of Southwestern
Authors and in 1997 he was included in the National Registry of
Who’s Who of Professional Artists in America. His work adorns the
walls of many prestigious private collections, and several of his
large original oil paintings are on permanent display at the Desert
Rose Institute in Eloy Arizona. In 2003 he won the best of Show
award for his painting “Pride and Joy” at the Arabian Horse Fair Art
Show in Albuquerque, NM.
Lloyd received
his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from St Martin’s College of Art
(1967) in London and a Royal Society of Fine Arts Diploma (1964)
from the University of London Associated Examining Board.
