Brilliant Horses, Top-Notch Presenters, and Equestrian
Products Galore Fashioned an Exciting 2004 Equine Affaire in Pomona,
CA
Sunny southern California weather welcomed an excellent crowd of
equine enthusiasts at the fourth annual Equine Affaire in Pomona on
January 29–February 1. Attendees traveled to Fairplex from
throughout the Southwest to partake of Equine Affaire’s educational
clinics, seminars, and demonstrations as well as a variety of
shopping opportunities catered to equestrians.
Equine Affaire’s top-notch lineup of presenters represented a myriad
of disciplines and subjects ranging from reining and horsemanship to
dressage, jumping, and horse health topics. In conclusion to each
day’s educational program, the special evening clinics by Ted
Robinson, John Lyons, and Greg Best on Thursday, Friday, and
Saturday were received by enthusiastic crowds. In addition to
attending the outstanding educational programs, visitors met many of
the presenters at their exhibit booths gathering further horse
training insight as well as autographs.
Attendees toured through five buildings packed with exhibits,
demonstrations, seminars, and a breed pavilion as well as extensive
indoor and outdoor truck and trailer exhibits. Horsepeople of all
ages shopped the extensive trade show floors, finding unique gifts
and treasures, tack, apparel, equipment, equine art, and other
equine and equestrian essentials. The Breed Pavilion housed
representatives of a wide assortment of breeds. Arabians, Friesians,
miniatures, warmbloods, and many more took a turn in the spotlight
at the breed presentation ring where onlookers took a closer look at
the featured horses.
Two more Equine Affaires are scheduled in 2004 on March 25–28 in
Columbus, OH, and November 11–14 in W. Springfield, MA. For more
information on Equine Affaire, consult
www.equineaffaire.com or call (740)
845-0085 Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm Eastern.

EGYPTIAN HORSE DAY IN MAY
An exciting new outreach program, Egyptian Horse Day in May, targets
the public and local media by unifying Pyramid Society members
across the nation. Members will host, at their farms, a special day
of education, fun, and opportunity to meet the Egyptian Arabian
horse. “Meet us in May for Egyptian Horse Day. Join us in June – at
the Egyptian Event.” is the slogan and press releases will be sent
to local media to promote this activity. Regional representatives
are challenged to help organize and develop this concept within
their region. Region 9 has produced a website: www.seregion9.com
illustrating the suggested activities. Presentation of horses,
refreshments, storytelling, a treasure hunt for the jewel of the
Nile, Egyptian face painting for kids, videos, crossword puzzles and
other fun games such as art and essay contests are part of the
suggested agenda.
Saturday, May 15th is the chosen date, however other dates in May
can also be selected to suit an individual or group’s needs.
Regardless, everyone is encouraged to target May l5 to take
advantage of press releases and overall unity, date and purpose. Get
with the program! It’s going to be fun!

is hoped to make this a cost-effective networking opportunity for
everyone. Mark your calendar now – October l- 3, 2004. Your support,

EGYPTIAN ARABIAN PROMOTES “YOUNG BLACK STALLION”
AT MOVIE PREMIER
The Young Black Stallion, Walt Disney Pictures' first
dramatic adventure made expressly for the giant screen, opened to
the general public on December 25, 2003 in IMAX theaters across the
country. The stars of the movie are Biana Tamimi (Neera) of Austin,
Texas and the Young Black Stallion played by the straight Egyptian
Thee Cyclone (Thee Desperado x The Minuet) owned by Jack Maritz of
Uppington, South Africa. But they were not the only stars when the
movie premiered at the Loews Theater in New York City on December 7,
2003. Attending this event was a relatively unknown black stallion
by the name of WG Priority One (Pharaoh El Marekh x Ruala Fay Haliya)
making his debut and enchanting the audience and passersby on
Broadway and 68th Street.
Priority is a straight Egyptian of Dahman Shahwan strain. He is
owned by Joan Stone of Stone Image Arabians in Canajoharie, New
York. He lives with his mares, foals and of course humans. That is
until the call came Thanksgiving Eve from Jonathan Rollo, a Disney
Studios representative. Initially thinking that Mr. Rollo was a
telemarketer, he was almost hung up on. Fortunately, he was able to
quickly convey that Disney was in search of a black Arabian stallion
to appear at the movie premier in New York City. When the details
were finalized it left only two days to prepare for the trip to NYC.
This was about the time that the snow started to fall. As fate would
have it, a nor'easter moved in off the coast and it snowed from
Friday evening until Sunday morning. The 36-hour storm would dump 20
inches of snow.
It was still snowing when the Stones left Canajoharie with Priority
in tow. Five hours later Priority arrived at the Claremont Riding
Academy on 89th Street, which was the equine version of an actor's
trailer. Shortly before two o'clock the afternoon of December 7th,
Priority was trailered to and unloaded on Broadway where he marched
down the crowded city sidewalk. The holiday shoppers were mesmerized
by the sight and stunned by Priority's beauty. But none of this had
an effect on Priority. Once at the theater marquee, Disney conducted
a photo-op for those involved in the making of the movie. Producer
Fred Ross, Director Simeon Wincer and Actress Biana Tamimi all had
their photographs taken with Priority.
In a follow up phone call from Disney Studios to thank Joan Stone
and Priority for the appearance, they stated that it wasn't exactly
what they had expected - it was TEN times better than what they had
expected. You can visit Priority online at
http://www.stoneimagearabians.com.
