TWO INFLUENTIAL STALLIONS LAID TO REST
Straight Egyptian stallion, Farid Nile Moon (Anaza El Farid x GA Moon Tajhalima), owned by Al Qasimi Stables of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, was recently laid to rest after an extensive battle with colic. Farid Nile Moon was the 2001 Egyptian Event Supreme Champion Stallion and was bred by Karen Henwood and Ron Shimer of Sandybrook Egyptian Arabians located in Ocala, Florida. Equine enthusiasts from around the world adored this 1997 bay stallion because of his exotic beauty and type.  In the showring, Farid Nile Moon's sweet disposition and charming personality captivated spectators. He was shown just a few times in the UAE, but won MOST CLASSIC as well as Reserve Championships to some of the finest horses in the middle east. He was very respected there as well as in Europe.  Farid Nile Moon's legacy lives on only through a limited number of offspring. Our condolences to Sandybrook Farm and Al Qasimi Stables for the loss of this magnificent stallion.

The Egyptian Arabian community also lost another great stallion recently. Straight Egyptian and star of The Young Black Stallion, Thee Cyclone (Thee Desperado x The Minuet), owned by Jack and Fanie Maritz, was laid to rest in South Africa. Thee Cyclone was a 1994 bay stallion bred by Frank and Pat Bradish of Twin Hickory Arabians located in Kingsville, Ohio. Thee Cyclone starred in Disney’s “The Young Black Stallion” and was influential in introducing the world to the beauty of the Egyptian Arabian horse. Our condolences to the Maritzes and Twin Hickory Arabians for the loss of this important stallion.

ANSATA ABU HALIM LAID TO REST
Karen Henwood and Ron Shimer of Sandybrook Farm located in Ocala, Florida have experienced another heartbreaking loss.  Karen and Ron's beloved 22-year-old straight Egyptian stallion, Asata Abu Halim (Ansata Ibn Halima x Ansata Damietta) died peacefully on November 18th of heart failure. "Abu" was bred by Judi and Don Forbis of Ansata Arabian Stud in Mena, Arkansas. Abu was one of a very few Ansata Ibn Halima sons left in the world. In addition to being the sire of several lovely mares, "Abu" was a friend and clown, as well as a beloved pet.

2005 FUTURITY CHANGES
The 2005 Futurity Packets will be mailed out mid-October. Nominate your unborn foals now to participate in this lucrative program, not only giving you a chance to share in the prize money, but also bringing status and recognition to your breeding program.

As you'll remember, futurity changes were made with the nominations of 2003 who were shown as yearlings in 2004.  In essence, there were two age divisions; one for foals with birth dates from January 1 through June 30 and the second division for foals born from July 1 through December 31.  Nominations and sustaining fees for this second division did not keep pace with the first division and thus aftercareful review, the board felt the age division should be changed to April 15, rather than July 1.  Therefore, beginning with the nominations of 2005, to be shown as yearlings in 2006, one age division will be for foals born from January 1 through April 15, and the second age division for foals born from April 16 through December 31.  This should provide for more
equitable class sizes for the yearlings competing in 2006, while still separating the older from the younger yearlings.  The payouts in each division will be based on their respective levels of participation.

That is the first part of the equation, and as mentioned previously, will apply to the nominations of 2005.  However, any existing futurity must play itself out.  Therefore, those nominations of 2004, who will be showing as yearlings in 2005, will be showing under the guidelines applicable when they were nominated and sustained.  The age divisions for these yearlings will remain from January 1 - June 30, with the second division for yearlings foaled from July 1 through December 31.

There will be no changes to either the two-year-old classes or the existing futurity program for Egyptian Sired foals.

Futurity forms are now available through the Society's office and at the link below.

BREED TO AN EGYPTIAN STALLION AND REAP THE BENEFITS!
Are you currently making plans for the 2005 breeding season? Egyptian Arabians not only make excellent outcross bloodlines, but through The Pyramid Society they also offer huge financial incentives. Just in time for the breeding season, we offer two programs that provide a wonderful introduction to the Egyptian Arabian industry.

This year’s Egyptian Breeders’ Challenge (EBC) Auction broke all previous records. The proceeds from this auction will fund the expected $60,000.00 in prize money for the EBC classes of 2007! If you’ve not already purchased a breeding at this year’s auction, don’t worry...you still have a chance. Please review the list of EBC breedings still available  for the 2005 season located at the following link, and contact Carol at The Society’s office for more details. The EBC—You’ve Got To Be In It To Win It!
