PYRAMID SOCIETY FUTURITIES

àFUTURITY NOMINATION FORMß

Note:  The Pyramid Society honors the AHA Registry's policy regarding multiple registrations resulting from embryo or oocyte transfer.

1.

The owner of the foal must be a current 2005 member in good standing of The Pyramid Society to be eligible to participate in the Futurities.  Membership in the Society is an ongoing requirement throughout all the years the foal is active in the Futurity program.
2. It is the responsibility of the mare owner to satisfy all nomination requirements.
3. Nominations are due in full by December 31st of the mare's breeding year.
4.

Pedigrees (four generation) of the sire and dam must be included with the nomination application.  A copy of the foal's registration should be forwarded when available.
5.

Nomination and Sustaining Fees:

Nomination fee for Straight Egyptian foals:

$200

(Due by December 31st of breeding year, fee must be submitted with the Nomination form.)
Sustaining Fees (to keep foal eligible): $50 (Due by December 31st of the birth year)
$50 (Due by December 31st of the yearling year)

Pre-Payment of all fees provides eligibility for yearlings and 2-year-olds.

Nomination fee for Egyptian-Sired foals: $75 (Due by December 31st of breeding year; fee must bee submitted with the Nomination form.)
Sustaining fees (to keep foal eligible): $100 (Due by December 31st of the birth year)
$125 (Due by December 31st of yearling year)

Pre-Payment of all fees provides eligibility for yearlings and 2-year-olds.

Confirmations of futurity activity are mailed to participating members in the spring along with Egyptian Event information.  Blank Nomination Forms for unborn foals, as well as Invoices for sustaining fees on previously-nominated foals, are mailed in the fall.
5a.

LATE FEES: The postmark deadline for Futurity nominations is Dec. 31st of the mare’s breeding year.  In those extenuating circumstances in which a late nomination of an unborn foal is accepted, a late fee of $50 will be assessed for each nomination postmarked after Dec. 31st.
6.

If payment of the nomination fee is being shared by the owner of the dam and the owner of the sire through the Stallion Owner Participation Program, it is the responsibility of the mare owner to ensure that both payments are sent in together when the nomination is submitted. The Society cannot become involved in the billing and/or collecting of nomination fees from supporting parties.
7.

All nomination and sustaining fees are non-refundable. However, there are situations which may arise that will permit the transfer of a nomination from one year to another. Please review the "Futurity Transfer Policy" for these specific circumstances.
8. Under no circumstances may a live foal be nominated to an existing Futurity.
9.

Nominated Straight Egyptian and Egyptian-Sired foals may show in their respective Futurity classes as yearlings and 2-year-olds at the Egyptian Event. All funds collected from the nomination, sustaining, and entry fees (less a 20% administrative fee) will be disbursed to each foal crop as they become of age for the class provided. Note: For Straight Nominations only - it is very important to indicate the expected foaling date as prize money in the Straight Egyptian yearling classes will be determined by the level of participation within the two divisions: (1) foals born from January 1 through April 15, and (2) foals born from April 16 through December 31. The split is for the yearlings only. There are no changes to the two-year-old classes. Egyptian-Sired nominations will not be split by date of birth.
  Ribbons and prize money will be awarded to the Top Ten. Prize money will be distributed from the total respective purses as shown: 1st - 40%, 2nd - 22%, 3rd - 10%, 4th - 7%, 5th - 6%, 6th - 5%, 7th - 4%, 8th - 3%, 9th - 2%, 10th - 1%
The Pyramid Society reserves the right to adjust ribbons and payouts, based on the level of participation.  However, all futurity prize money will be paid out in all circumstances.
10.

The Futurity program is open to Fillies and Colts only. Geldings are not eligible to participate in the
Futurity classes.
All funds paid into the Futurity program remain within the Futurity program. EBC Note: Geldings are eligible to participate in the EBC colt/gelding class.

11.

Although payment of nomination and sustaining fees provides eligibility for the Futurity Program, it does not mean a foal is automatically entered into the Futurity class. There is a separate entry form and entry fee which must be submitted to enter the foal into the Futurity class for that show year. Each year, prior to the Egyptian Event, members are sent Prize Lists, which include the entry forms and requirements for entering classes.
12.

The responsibility for inclusion as Straight Egyptian or Egyptian-Sired as defined by The Pyramid Society, rests with the member submitting the nomination, as The Pyramid Society is not a registry.  Disqualification from any Futurity based upon an invalid pedigree will not result in a refund of paid nomination and/or sustaining fees. All decisions regarding whether a horse meets the requisite definition shall be made by The Pyramid Society, whose decision shall be final.

Change of name and definition of Egyptian-Bred/Related horses to Egyptian-Sired beginning with registrations and nominations of 2005:
An Egyptian-Sired horse, as defined by The Pyramid Society, is a purebred Arabian who is produced by breeding a Straight Egyptian stallion to a purebred Arabian mare who is not Straight Egyptian, beginning with registrations of 2005. Futurity nominations of 2005 must meet this definition.  However, all existing horses meeting the previous definition of Egyptian Bred/Related will be grandfathered in through the remainder of their lifetime and eligible for certain Society managed and promoted programs.  Only horses of certifiable ancestry are eligible for classification as Straight Egyptian or Egyptian-Sired, as defined by The Pyramid Society.  Please contact The Society office for assistance with any eligibility questions.

EXTENDED SPECIALTY PROGRAM for STRAIGHT EGYPTIAN HORSES
POLICIES, RULES & FORMS

Important Note:

The Extended Specialty program for Egyptian-Bred horses has been discontinued, due to low levels of participation.

1.

Straight Egyptian 3- and 4-year-old horses (excluding Geldings) may join the Extended Specialty Program, thereby providing them with additional competition opportunities, after they have finished their Futurity competition. Additionally, a Straight Egyptian horse not initially involved in the Futurity, or one who was involved but did not remain current, may enter this program. (See rates below) The 3 and 4-year-olds will show in separate classes.
2.

The owner of a horse participating in the Extended Specialty Program must be a current member in good standing of The Pyramid Society.
3.

Straight Egyptian horses (excluding Geldings) who will be 3 or 4 years old on January 1st of the show year may join the Extended Specialty Program and compete in the Extended Specialty classes offered at the Egyptian Event. Nomination fees for each year should be mailed by December 31st prior to the show year.
4.

A)

A nomination fee of $100 is due for those horses who retained current eligibility in the Futurity or Extended Specialty Program during the previous show season. Please include a copy of the previous year's computer-generated confirmation form to verify eligibility. A pedigree need not to be included for these previously-nominated horses.
OR B) A nomination fee of $200 is due for horses entering the program who did not participate in and/or retain current eligibility in the Futurity or Extended Specialty Program during the previous show season. A 4-generation pedigree must be included with these new nominations.
5.

Payment of nomination and sustaining fees does not mean a foal is automatically entered into the Extended Specialty class at a show. There is a separate entry form and entry fee which must be submitted to enter the foal into the Extended Specialty class. Each year, prior to the Egyptian Event, members are sent Prize Lists, which include the entry forms and requirements for entering classes.
6.

Ribbons and prize money for Extended Specialty classes will be awarded in the same manner as for Futurity classes.
7.

As with the Futurity Program, a new owner purchasing a horse that has been nominated to the Extended Specialty Program, must obtain the computer form from the previous owner and forward it to The Pyramid Society, along with proof of ownership. The new owner of the horse must be a current member of The Pyramid Society in order for the horse to continue to be eligible to participate in the program. Please contact the Futurity Coordinator, Nancy Koons, at (859) 231-0771 with any questions regarding this program.

FUTURITY TRANSFER POLICY

Futurity Nomination and Sustaining Fees are Non-Refundable. However, there are situations which may arise that will permit the transfer of a nomination from one year to another. A transfer request must be accompanied by a veterinarian's statement and a copy of the original nomination (i.e., computer print-out from our office). Any new pedigrees necessary to complete our documentation must also be submitted. Futurity transfers are allowed in the following situations:
  A. The mare absorbs, aborts, or dies before foaling
  B. The foal dies at birth
  C. The foal lives less than one week
Nominations meeting the requirements above may be transferred as follows:
to a new mare for that same breeding year (provided the new mare’s foal is not yet born).

to the same or a new mare for either of the next 2 breeding years. The sire may also be different than the original nominated foal’s sire (unless it is an EBC foal - see EBC Transfer Policy below).

The transfer may be carried forward only up to two (2) years, which is the life of the Futurity (i.e., a 2005 foal nomination cannot be carried forward beyond 2007).

The nomination must also remain in the same Futurity division (i.e., 2005 Straight to 2006 Straight, or 2005 Egyptian-Sired to 2006 Egyptian-Sired).
Should one of the foregoing situations occur, The Pyramid Society must be informed in writing (and a copy of the veterinarian's statement must be included) no later than December 31st of the original foaling year.

Under no circumstances may a live foal be nominated to an existing futurity.

EBC TRANSFER POLICY

EBC breedings are Non-Refundable. However, there are situations which may arise that will permit the transfer of an EBC nomination to the following year, under the same situations as Futurity Transfers are allowed (see list above), or if a successful breeding did not occur. EBC transfers must also meet the following additional requirements:

1.

The EBC Stallion’s Breeding Contract must allow for a rebreeding.
2. Transfers can be carried forward 1 year only. Funds will remain with the originally-designated year’s EBC prize money.
3. Foals must be by the original EBC Stallion; however, there can be a change in the Mare.
4. A written request for transfer, accompanied by a vet statement, must be sent to The Pyramid Society by December 31st of the original foaling year.

Because EBC-nominated foals must also be futurity-nominated, the futurity transfer policy (as stated above) will be applicable for the futurity nomination.

CHANGE OF OWNERSHIP

A new owner purchasing a foal that has been nominated to the Futurity or EBC program should obtain the Futurity confirmation form from the previous owner, and forward it to The Pyramid Society along with proof of ownership (i.e., registration or purchase contract). The new owner of the foal must be a current member of The Pyramid Society in order for the foal to be eligible to participate in the Futurity and EBC programs.
